En plein air artwork selected for inclusion in this years Royal Scottish Academy online summer exhibition
Midday, Lochrutton Parish, 'En Plein Air'
Oil on wooden panel
7 x 12 inches
It was really pleasing to find out that a small en plein air artwork I made last year has been selected to feature online in the Royal Scottish Academy's 197th Summer Exhibition this May.
The exhibition is available to view online from 5th May to 11th June 2023 here. The exhibition features artworks from a wide range of artists and architects, in all types of media including printmaking, painting and sculpture.
The painting I entered, 'Midday, Lochrutton Parish' was made as part of my Four Square Miles (here) project last year. It is a view towards Lochfoot village from the road up to Lochrutton church painted on a windy day last March. Although it was painted quickly (due to a cold impending rain cloud), to me, it was first painting in the project that seemed to successfully capture both a sense of place and the landscape around our village, and a sense of a moment in time.
